The story

Terminus Nord is a brasserie on rue de Dunkerque, opened in 1925 opposite the Gare du Nord, in the 10th arrondissement. Its décor blends Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and its lines are the work of the architect Hirtoff, who also designed Ledoyen.

The room welcomes travellers off the northern trains and regulars from the neighbourhood. It keeps its moleskin banquettes, floor mosaics, copper bar, mouldings and engraved mirrors beneath globe lights. Its seafood platters made its reputation.

In 1972 Jean-Paul Bucher, founder of the Flo group, bought the brasserie. The Bertrand group later took it over and had it restored: in 2019 the English designer John Whelan reopened the house, keeping its Art Deco spirit, its marquetry and its bar counter. The brasserie celebrated its centenary in 2025.

It serves brasserie cooking every day, all day long: sole meunière, Burgundy snails, calf’s liver, beef and platters of oysters, lobster and langoustines, with coffee at the counter from the morning, a few steps from the station platforms.
