Le Petit Saint-Benoît, a bouillon on rue Saint-Benoît since 1901
Paris institutionLe Petit Saint-Benoît

The story
Le Petit Saint-Benoît, a bouillon on rue Saint-Benoît, opened in 1901 in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It was born in the great age of the Parisian bouillons, houses serving home cooking at gentle prices, and has kept that spirit for more than a century.
Marguerite Duras was a regular, and the house keeps literary memories of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés intelligentsia who came to eat here. The counter, the bustle of the waiters and the talk passing from table to table make up its decor.
Over the decades it has stayed true to bourgeois cooking and to the produce of the Aveyron. In the summer of 2024 Laurent Nègre took over, faithfully watching over the spirit of the place, its lively counter and its frank, generous cooking.
On the Left Bank, the house serves egg mayonnaise, celeriac rémoulade, snails with their Aveyron farçou, Aveyron sausage with aligot, blanquette de veau, beef bourguignon, crème caramel and tarte Tatin. Lunch is at the counter or in the dining room, and dinner on the terrace in fine weather.
