Earlier this spring, we had the chance to join our friends from Le Verre Volé on an extraordinary journey to Seoul, where they brought the soul of their institution to Wildduck & Canteen in the lively neighborhood of Itaewon.
What follows is more than just a collection of photos—it’s a true carnet de route, sharing the intimate, authentic moments that made this popup so special.
From the very start, it was clear this was going to be an adventure. We tagged along with Thomas, Cyril and Tae Yeun from Le Verre Volé as they worked to craft a menu that would bring together the best of both cities.
On an unforgettable night, we found ourselves wandering through the vibrant Noryangjin fish market at 1 a.m., searching for the freshest catch to feature at the popup dinner. The market buzzed with energy and color, its stalls overflowing with abundance. Watching Sumin—the imaginative chef and owner of Wildduck & Canteen—select each ingredient with such meticulous care was a powerful reminder of the passion and dedication poured into every dish.
Back at Wildduck & Canteen, the kitchen buzzed with creativity as the team prepared for the event. We were lucky to capture these behind-the-scenes moments—quiet conversations over coffee, bursts of laughter, and the focused intensity as the final touches were put on each plate. It was a true meeting of minds and cultures, with everyone bringing their own flavor to the table.
Of course, this collaboration wouldn’t be complete without exclusive souvenirs to commemorate the occasion. We designed a limited-edition sweatshirt inspired by the Taegeukgi, the iconic Korean flag. We shot the merch in the vibrant spaces of Wildduck & Canteen and at Hills & Europa, the beloved Seoul records bar where Toto from Le Verre Volé spun records late into the night.
Now, as the story comes full circle, we’re thrilled to announce that Wildduck & Canteen will be popping up at Le Verre Volé in Paris on June 22nd.
