Lachaume, florist on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré since 1845
Paris institution

The story
Lachaume, the florist now on the Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, was founded in 1845 by Jules Lachaume on the Rue de la Chaussée-d’Antin. In 1847 he published a book on flowers and the art of arranging them, Les Fleurs naturelles.
In 1889 the shop moved to the Rue Royale, where it stayed for more than a century. Marcel Proust bought there the cattleya orchid he wore in his buttonhole. In 1947 the rooms where Christian Dior showed his first haute couture collection were dressed with Lachaume flowers, and Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld later became loyal clients.
Giuseppina Callegari took over the house in 1970. It then passed to her son Didier Vassy and his wife Colette, and later to their daughters, Caroline Cnocquaert and Stéphanie Primet. In 2013 the shop left the Rue Royale for the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, taking its traditional decor with it.
A short walk from the Élysée Palace, in the 8th arrondissement, the house makes bouquets of fresh flowers, dried flowers and everlastings, and its wheat bouquets, shaped by hand in the workshop, which keep for years.
