An exciting addition to our tableware collection, The Hollow Plate from Chez René is a collector’s piece that celebrates the enduring spirit of Parisian gastronomy. Designed for those who cherish the city’s rich culinary heritage, or simply appreciate a beautifully crafted plate, it effortlessly bridges history and everyday use.
Sourced from the beloved Saint-Germain institution Chez René, this plate is as versatile as it is storied. Ideal for serving salads, desserts, or for recreating the legendary René-style boeuf bourguignon, it brings the soul of a true Parisian table into your home. Established in 1957, this culinary haven has long preserved its authentic character and timeless charm.
The plate features a classic silhouette in off-white porcelain, elegantly finished with a vivid red rim. Delicate “Chez René” typography adorns the surface, while the opening date, marked on the bottom, serves as a quiet tribute to its heritage. A functional work of art, The Hollow Plate invites you to bring a piece of Parisian history to your table.

Chez René is a historic institution in the Saint-Germain district, with a history dating back to 1896. The restaurant as it is known today was established in 1957 by Adrienne and René Cinquin from Beaujolais, who brought with them a deep respect for tradition and convivial dining.
Long cherished by Parisian intellectuals and creatives, Chez René has welcomed figures such as sculptor Alberto Giacometti, writer Ernest Hemingway, and former French president François Mitterrand.
This true "Bistrot du Beaujolais" has preserved its timeless atmosphere, serving generous, homemade cuisine prepared using traditional methods and local produce.
Signature dishes such as foie de veau au Beaujolais and Bœuf Bourguignon “René style” are enjoyed in a warm, inviting space, where walls are lined with vintage posters, mosaic floors and traditional white linens, and the menu is still scribbled on a blackboard, just as it always has been.
