Veselka
Since 1954, Veselka has been serving up traditional Ukrainian food in the heart of the East Village. No matter the hour of the day, you can always find comfort at Veselka with a plate of their famous pierogi topped with sour cream and caramelized onions. While restaurants come and go in New York, this 24-hour Ukrainian restaurant has been an institution in the East Village since opening in 1954. Founded by Ukrainian refugees Wolodymyr and Olha Darmochwal, Veselka is still family-owned and run today. From their traditional borscht to potato pancakes, and of course, their signature pierogi, Veselka is as old world authentic as it gets.
