GiftShop is launching a collection in collaboration with the Berlin-based restaurant, ChungKing Noodles, situated in Kreuzberg. Available in either black or white, this heavyweight t-shirt showcases an illustration by the artist Anna Vu ( @goodfoodcrapdrawing ) on its back.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Berlin's culinary scene with the ChungKing Noodles T-shirt in timeless black. Representing the renowned Sichuan-style noodle bar nestled in the heart of Berlin's Mitte district, this t-shirt transcends mere apparel; it's a statement. Inaugurated in 2019 by the self-taught Chef Ash Lee, ChungKing Noodles swiftly emerged as a culinary landmark, acquainting Berliners with the tantalizing spice of chongqing xiaomian.
Anna Vu is a newly Paris based, Australian born artist and art director. Between organising photoshoots and designing layouts at a food magazine, she started her best-known art project, Good Food Crap Drawing in 2011. “I wanted to document and sort of review the food I was eating without wanting to make another food blog with crap photos and bad writing”. Her chosen tools are Faber Castell connector pens and a Micron 0.4 mm felt-tip, and she shuns preparatory sketches in favour of a more immediate, one-take approach. “I just eat the food. And if I think it’s good, I draw it.” Her work has now expanded (naturally) to include wine and you can find her currently somewhere in Europe deciding what to eat and drink next.

About
Since 2017, Shanghai native Ash Lee has been bringing the authentic flavors of Chongqing to Berliners with her pop-up ChungKing Noodles. Historically and culturally part of Sichuan Province, the cuisine of the western Chinese megacity is characterized by its spiciness and use of local Sichuan pepper.
For her pop-up, Ash Lee specializes in the region's signature noodle dish, the namesake Chong Qing Xiao Mian: wheat noodles traditionally served in broth and with variously combined ingredients such as pickled leafy and root vegetables, ground beef, split peas, condensed soy sauce, garlic-ginger water, lard and sesame paste.
Each noodle dish is flavored with a chili oil typical of Sichuan cuisine, which Lee prepares himself according to his own recipe by sautéing dried chili peppers and various spices.
