The story

Caviar Kaspia is a caviar house founded in Paris in 1927 by Arcady Fixon, a refugee from the Russian Revolution, and settled since 1953 at 17 place de la Madeleine. He first set up a company devoted to Caspian caviar, then opened a Russian restaurant on rue des Mathurins in 1929.

Russian émigrés came to find their past, and Paris society came to discover caviar, served with iced vodka or a glass of champagne. In 1953 Fixon moved to place de la Madeleine: a fine grocery on the ground floor and, up a discreet staircase, the restaurant and its private rooms.

Ramon Mac-Crohon, who joined the family business in marketing, has run it since 2011. He has changed almost nothing in the décor: the blue of the shopfront and tablecloths, the fish-shaped ashtrays, the baked potato topped with caviar. For its 90th year, in 2017, the house began to travel.

On place de la Madeleine the ground-floor grocery sells the house caviar, and the upstairs restaurant serves its caviars, its seafood and its caviar potato, with a long list of wines and champagnes. Kaspia has worked with Off-White, Giambattista Valli and Casablanca.
