The story

La Maison de la Truffe opened in 1932 on place de la Madeleine, in the 8th arrondissement. Brokers from Carpentras, the Provençal town of the great truffle market, founded it to sell Parisians directly what is known there as the rabasse.

The shop gathered the gourmets of the Madeleine around a single product: the black truffle of the Vaucluse and Périgord, the white truffle of Italy, and the oils, sauces and preserves the house makes from them.

In 1978 Guy Monier, a trained cook, took over the house, opened a tasting room and turned it into a fine grocery. The Kaspia group bought it in 2007. For its 80th anniversary, in 2012, the house published La Truffe, eighty recipes written with fourteen chefs.

At 19 place de la Madeleine, the shop sells the house’s truffles and products, and the restaurant serves them at lunch and dinner. Since 2022 the Atelier next door has offered a short menu, a terrace facing the Madeleine church and a small grocery corner.
