Le Bristol, palace hotel on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré since 1925
Paris institution

The story
Le Bristol is a palace hotel opened in April 1925 at 112 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, in the 8th arrondissement. In 1923 Hippolyte Jammet, son of the owners of the restaurant Le Bœuf à la Mode, bought the former Hôtel de Castellane and had it remade in Art Deco style by Gustave Umbdenstock and Urbain Cassan.
The house takes its name from Frederick Hervey, Earl of Bristol, a traveller with a taste for luxury. In 1940 Jammet made it an annexe of the United States embassy: the hotel escaped requisition, and the Jewish architect Léo Lehrman lived hidden in room 106. After the Liberation it became a meeting place for diplomats.
In 1978 Rudolf-August Oetker bought Le Bristol, and his family still owns it. A new wing opened onto the garden, one of the largest of any Paris palace hotel, with a pool on the sixth floor. In 2009 the building next door added rooms and the 114 Faubourg brasserie.
In the heart of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the hotel celebrated its hundredth year in 2025. Guests dine at Épicure, three Michelin stars, or at 114 Faubourg, take tea at Café Antonia, and the house mills its own flour for its bread.
