"The idea was to have a tool that I could travel with all the time, always in my pocket. Useful for the vineyard, as well as for slicing a piece of sausage on the corner of a barrel. I set off by train from Paris to Toulouse, my hometown. Then, a car ride with my dad (Bob) to the vineyards of Nicolas Carmarans, a winemaker in Aveyron with whom we have been working for over 15 years. We collected oak barrel staves to make the knife handles. The next day, we headed to Marcillac, about an hour away, to bring these woods to the 'Le Liadou du Vallon' cutlery for the creation of a pocket knife.
Two months later, the wood had dried, and the knives had been crafted, handmade of course.
I am fulfilling a childhood dream here because, since I was little, we had the tradition of having a pocket knife at home; I keep mine very carefully.
I wanted to share this with enthusiasts of good food and fine wines.
I am keeping a copy for my 6-year-old son, for when he is old enough to have one too."
